Privacy Policy

SoundTouch Radio does not collect, store, or share any personal data. No account is required. Everything stays on your device and your local network.

What the app does

SoundTouch Radio is a remote control for Bose SoundTouch speakers. It discovers speakers on your local Wi-Fi network, searches for internet radio stations via the open Radio Browser directory, and streams them to your speaker — entirely over your home network.

Data stored on your device

The app saves two small pieces of information locally on your device. Neither is uploaded anywhere:

• Favorite stations — the list of stations you have saved, stored as a JSON file in the app's private storage (favorites.json).
• Last connected speaker — the name, local IP address, and port of the most recently used speaker, stored in SharedPreferences so the app can reconnect instantly on the next launch.

This data never leaves your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app.

Network requests

The app makes the following outbound connections:

• Radio Browser API (api.radio-browser.info) — used to search for stations and load station metadata (name, country, tags, bitrate, homepage). No personal data is sent; queries contain only the search term you type.
• Station favicon URLs — small station logo images are fetched from URLs provided by Radio Browser. These are plain HTTP/HTTPS image requests with no personal data attached.
• Your Bose SoundTouch speaker — the app communicates directly with the speaker's local HTTP API (port 8090) and UPnP/AVTransport service. All traffic stays inside your home network.

No data is sent to the developer or any third-party analytics service.

Android permissions

• INTERNET — required to reach the Radio Browser API and to communicate with your speaker over Wi-Fi.
• ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE / ACCESS_WIFI_STATE — used to detect network changes and re-discover speakers when you switch Wi-Fi networks.
• CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE — needed to receive mDNS multicast packets so the app can find your speaker automatically via Network Service Discovery (NSD).

No location, microphone, camera, contacts, or storage permissions are requested.

Children's privacy

The app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to this policy

If the privacy practices of this app change materially, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the change.
